Fulbright Teacher Exchange

Program Description:

The U.S. Department of State sponsored Fulbright Teacher Exchange arranges direct, one-to-one international exchanges to many countries for teachers and administrators from K-12 schools as well as two and four-year colleges for educators of all subject levels. For U.S. teachers, this opportunity involves a year, semester or six-week direct exchange of teaching positions with a counterpart in another country teaching the same subject(s) at the same level. Please see the Teacher Exchanges and Summer Seminars link on our web-site for country information.

For U.S. administrators, the Fulbright program offers non-simultaneous work-shadowing assignments with an overseas counterpart. These exchanges may be from three to six weeks in length, but each partner must exchange to the other's school during the same academic year. For a country listing and more information about these opportunities, see the Administrator Exchanges section of our web-site. Inbound hosting opportunities are also available. Please see the Other Opportunities page of our web-site, which is updated frequently.

The Fulbright Teacher Exchange allows educators to gain new perspectives and professional expertise, learn about a new culture and share knowledge and insight about their own, develop lifelong friendships, become a member of an international community of scholars and gain understanding and appreciation of the similarities and differences between nations.
